The article I read, "Mobile-only Internet Users Face a Harsh New Digital Divide" (Sankin, 2013) addresses the issue of mobile devices vs broadband computer connections. I know that when I hear about the digital divide I question it, based on the fact that many of my students and others who are lower income than I am, seem to have technology I don't have. However, this article points out not only the economic discrepancies between those who have broadband internet and those who rely on mobile connections, but also the disadvantages of having only a mobile connection and the fact that mobile only users have become digital consumers rather than digital contributors. Cell-only and cell-mostly consumers are at an obvious disadvantage when it comes to resumes and homework.
